Barilla Bay Oysters

Barilla Bay Oysters has been at the heart of Tasmanian aquaculture since 1980, when the Forrest family first recognised the pristine waters of South East Tasmania as the perfect environment for growing premium Pacific oysters. Located in Cambridge, just 20 minutes from Hobart and five minutes from the airport, Barilla Bay is now a leading destination for visitors keen to experience Tasmania’s finest produce.

The cold, clean waters of Pittwater Marine Reserve flow through the farm daily, ensuring oysters develop their delicate flavour and texture naturally. Visitors can join an informative one-hour Oyster Farm, Gillespies Ginger Beer and Candy Abalone tour to learn how oysters are grown from spat to table, sample freshly shucked oysters, taste locally brewed ginger beer, and discover the unique process behind premium dried abalone.
Alongside oysters, the Barilla Bay shop stocks an impressive range of gourmet Tasmanian produce and gifts. From Bridestowe Lavender and Tasmanian Honey Company products to house-made sauces, chutneys, and scallop pies, there is always something to take home.
To complete your experience, head upstairs to the Barilla Bay Restaurant where the very best of this local produce is transformed into unforgettable dishes.
