Killara Distillery

Family Legacy, Handcrafted Spirits

Killara Distillery, located just outside the historic village of Richmond in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley, is Australia’s first second-generation distillery. Founded in 2016 by Kristy Booth-Lark, daughter of Bill and Lyn Lark (who revived Australia’s whisky industry), Killara continues the family legacy with premium single malt whisky, award-winning gins, and seasonal liqueurs.

Kristy brings more than 18 years of experience and a passion for producing spirits of exceptional quality. From the handcrafted Apothecary Gin to small-batch single malt whiskies, each bottle reflects her dedication to tradition, innovation, and Tasmania’s unique environment. The 26-acre property is being developed into a true garden-to-glass destination, with botanicals for gin, barley for whisky, and even grapes for brandy grown on site.
Visitors are welcome at the cellar door to sample Killara’s distinctive range, enjoy a relaxed tour of the distillery, and learn more about Kristy’s pioneering journey as one of the very few female distillers worldwide. For a hands-on experience, Killara also offers a Distillery School and gin-making workshops, perfect for those curious about the craft.
Just 30 minutes from Hobart, Killara Distillery is a must-visit for lovers of Tasmanian spirits.
